Ben Brown Fine Arts is excited to return to Frieze Masters (booth B13) with a curated selection of masterworks from some of the most influential Post-War artists from across Europe and the US. Highlights will include works by Frank Auerbach, Miquel Barceló, Tony Bevan, Alighiero Boetti, Peter Doig, Lucio Fontana, Anselm Kiefer, Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, Gerhard Richter, Antoni Tàpies, Gavin Turk, Günther Uecker and Andy Warhol.
Our presentation traces the developments of modern European art and demonstrates the ways in which artists worked across a wide range of media, exploring ideas of light, space, movement, structure, technology, abstraction, colour, and art's experiential possibilities throughout the 20th century. The works span from 1940s to late 1990s, highlighting major currents that ran through each era and spread internationally, ultimately influencing myriad artists who followed. Despite their revolutionary aesthetic leaps, the great artists of the early twentieth century were nourished by traditional models, and we will present works from different periods side by side, offering juxtapositions that cut across time to reveal the coherence of the European tradition.
