Overview

In 1978 Keith Haring moved from Pittsburgh to New York and enrolled in the School of Visual Arts (SVA). During a brief but intense career that spanned the 1980s, Haring achieved international recognition and participated in over one hundred group and solo exhibitions. During this period, he also participated in renowned international survey exhibitions such as Documenta 7 in Kassel, the São Paulo Biennial and the Whitney Biennial in New York. Haring's work exists in numerous major museum collections including the Art Institute of Chicago; Museum of Contemporary Art, (MOCA) Los Angeles; The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; The Israel Museum, Jerusalem; and Museum of Art, Kochi.
