Overview

In 1978, Caio Fonseca travelled to Barcelona where he studied under Augusto Torres until 1983. He then moved to Pietrasanta, Lucca, in 1985 where he lived until 1989. After two years in Paris, he returned to New York and now divides his time between Pietrasanta and his studio in Manhattan. His works are held in numerous public collections throughout Europe and the USA, including the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC; and the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM), Valencia.
