Jeff Koons studied painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He lives and works in both New York City and his hometown of York, Pennsylvania. He moved to New York in the late 1970s, where he initially made a living as a stockbroker on Wall Street. He rose to fame in the 1980s. Koons has influenced a generation of contemporary artists who explore commercialism, advertising, readymades and new concepts of Pop Art. His work exists in many important collections like the Tate Gallery in London, Kunstmuseum in Wolfsburg, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and Art Institute of Chicago, amongst others.
