海因茨•马克在50年代在杜塞尔多夫艺术学院读书, 并随後在科隆大学获得了哲学的学位。马克对艺术历史很有贡献: 他在1957年与Otto Piene一起创立了ZERO艺术运动。他曾参与Documenta II (1959) 和 Documenta III (1966)，并在第35届威尼斯双年展代表了德意志联邦共和国。马克已荣获各大奖项，包括Marzotto奖、第4届巴黎双年展的首个Prix Arts Plastiques(1956)和联邦十字勳章(2011) 。马克的作品曾出现在近200个个人展和组展。他的作品被总共136个公共收藏家收藏。
