Maison Ruinart, the oldest champagne house in the world, has been commissioning artists and hosting what is known as 'artists residencies' since 1896. This year, Vik Muniz was invited to the residency which took place at the time of the harvest in 2018. After spending many hours on the vineyard and learning from the Cellar Master, Vik Muniz created a series of 6 photographic works inspired by winegrowers and vineyards, who together, face challenging natural conditions each season. Through the use of organic elements such as pieces of blackened wood, charcoal or chardonnay leaves, his photographs highlight our perception of scale and play with our senses.
This project has recently been unveiled by Ruinart and will be exhibited at their lounges in the upcoming Art Fairs.
